How to Get Started
Register with HISD VIPS.
All volunteers must first complete the Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) registration, including a background check. Register online via the link above. Approval can take up to six weeks and must be renewed every year.
Ways You Can Contribute
Join the Herod PTO
Becoming a PTO member (free and one membership per household) grants you access to all volunteer roles, voting rights in meetings, and early info on events.
Event-Based Volunteering
Book Fair: Help set up, run, and support literacy by guiding students during the book fair held in the Fall.
Spirit Nights: Attend PTO-hosted restaurant nights to raise funds for school programs. Volunteers help distribute flyers and encourage family participation.
Fall Fest, Jet Fest & Auction: Assist with planning, logistics, décor, and family engagement at signature school events.
Ongoing and Administrative Support
Teacher Support Projects: Assist with copying, crafting decorations, prepping supplies, and supporting classroom needs.
Magnet Tours: Serve as a parent representative guiding prospective families during campus tours.
School Store (Jetway): Staff the on‑campus store selling spirit wear, school supplies, and treats.
